How do you calculate peptide reconstitution?

Divide the peptide in the vial by the volume of bacteriostatic water you added — that is the concentration per mL. Divide your target dose by that concentration to get the volume to draw, then multiply by 100 to convert millilitres into U-100 insulin-syringe units.

What does one unit on a U-100 syringe mean?

On a U-100 insulin syringe, 100 units equal 1 mL, so a single unit is 0.01 mL. Syringes are marked in units rather than millilitres, which is why the draw is easier to read in units.

Does more bacteriostatic water change the dose?

No. Adding more water dilutes the peptide, so you draw a larger volume for the same dose. The amount of peptide delivered is unchanged — only the number of units on the syringe moves.

How many doses will a vial give me?

Divide the peptide in the vial by your dose. A 5 mg vial at 250 mcg per dose gives 20 doses, regardless of how much water you reconstituted with.
